New Trip Camera
While my trusty Canon SD890 more than served me well on my trip to Tokyo, it was time to move on and get a new camera, mainly for HD video capabilities and a longer zoom. So after messing around with several cameras (Canon SX210 IS, Sony Cyber-Shot DSC-HX5V, Panasonic Lumix DMC-ZS7), I settled on the Panasonic. I think "settled" is also the appropriate word because what I found in my research was that no one camera was best at everything. Each camera had it's strengths and weaknesses.
Overall, the Panasonic seemed to have the most balanced features, particularly sharp image and video quality, GPS, battery life, and a preferred colour palette. Here's a short sample video I took of some cosmos:
